In honor of the release of Undefined Fantastic Object and Touhou Hisoutensoku I bring one song for each. The Traditional Old Man and Stylish Girl for UFO and Beloved Tomboyish Girl for 12.3. I hope everyone gets a chance to play both and have fun.
The bonus would be the UFO GST which can be downloaded here.
人形裁判 ~ 人の形弄びし少女/Doll Judgment ~ The Girl who Played with People’s Shapes was the first Touhou song I ever came across. Although I did not hear the original, but Marisa Stole the Precious Thing by IOSYS, it is what led me into the wonderous world that is Touhou. Yes, unlike most Touhou fans out there, my first was not U.N.オーエンは彼女なのか?. To this day I hold Doll Judgement near and dear to my heart. Not only because it was what changed my life, but also because Alice is one of my favorite characters. She is the other half of my most favorite pair out of all the characters in the world, and no I am not exaggerating. Marisa and Alice make up my One True Pair (OTP for short). Getting back on topic, I wanted the first arrange of Doll Judgement to be one that brought out how I picture Alice to be. This piece exceeded my imagination of what I was looking for in a song. After seeing Alice -> Dere my thoughts of Alice changed quite a lot, though I loved her all along. To me Alice is a quiet girl who is lonely. Marisa is her closest friend besides her dolls, but Alice knows that sooner or later she will pass away. That of course makes Alice cautious of getting close to Marisa because she knows she will get hurt in the end. Eventually Alice and Marisa become very close, but what Alice had predicted happened. She lost her precious person and becomes lonely yet again. That is what I get from this song. I understand if you get something different from it, but I needed to share my thoughts on it since it means very much to me.
Doll Judgement was not the song that made me begin the Nuke-tan Collection. That one is still very far away…
First up today is what I consider a very heavy and powerful arrange. It’s something that I always look for, but rarely find. I have to admit that for a very long time I did not like Higan Retour ~ Riverside View, but more recently I fell in love with it. This song…geeze I really don’t know where to begin explaining it so I’ll just let it speak for me.
Next could only have been an arrange of Sikieiki’s theme Touhou Judgement of the Sixtieth Year ~ Fate of Sixty Years. Sadly I accidently got the wrong song so the combo wasn’t as good as I had hoped, but there’s always another time. This one would be the first techno to appear on my list although it doesn’t seem like a techno at first. All in all I think this song gives off an eerie feel at times for a techno song which fits pretty well for Fate of Sixty Years.
One of the Touhou classics, Necrofantasia. It was bound to show up sooner or later so I thought I would bring it in with a bang. This is an orchestrated piece that brings a different light to the song. It’s not quite as creepy as Necrofantasia can be, but it doesn’t stray from the Yukari vibe. I how it makes you feel like it’s over, but then Yukari decided otherwise and pulled more out. That sounds a bit odd, but c’mon this is Yukari we’re talking about…
I actually wanted to do an arrange of this song yesterday, but delayed it to today. Greenwich in the Sky was an instant favorite for me even though it’s not from the Touhou series. This arrange is perfect for the song, a nice swing jazz. Whenever I listen to this song I always picture Renko and Maribell wandering the streets at night searching for borders. My imagination aside this song is wonderful for a jazz song. I can’t say I’m a big fan of jazz, but this piece reminds me that there’s always a good song in any genre.
Last for today is a Native Faith arrange. Evening star aside, this is the most insane Touhou song. I mean 66 keys out of 88 on a piano was it? And at that speed? That’s just insane. And to have it done on a guitar makes it even more crazy. But of course nothing is impossible for Xi.
Yeah I cut things a little short today, but it’s all about the music anyway. I hope you enjoyed all the songs and look forward to the ones to come.
Changed my mind and so I’ll upload whenever I want. I did 5 today because I wanted to get the first part of the collection. Seems like there was a lot of Subterranean Animism in this part, but what I can say? I love the songs in SA so there’ll probably be a lot along the way. Well let’s get things started.
First off you can download the first 10 songs here and can get the images here.
Number 0006 is a lovely combo between Walking the Streets of Former Hell and Flower-Studded Sake Dish on Mt. Ooe. A very well played song I must say. I’ve really grown to love Toy’s work and you can definitely expect more of it in time.
Next up is a gorgeous orchestrated Solar Sect of Mystic Wisdom ~ Nuclear Fusion. This song really takes my breath away (yeah that sounds cheesy, but it’s true). The original has loads of power behind it, but this packs an even bigger punch. I tried to find a picture to fit the song, but to be honest it’s not really possible. No words can really explain just how great this song is.
Ah The Witches’ Ball ~ Magus the song from Shuusou Goku of the Seihou series is a song that never ceases to amaze me, no matter what form it takes. Easily Marisa’s best theme. Xi did things more than just right with this song.
Satori Maiden ~ 3rd Eye is a great song, I fully admit to that, but most of the arranges and covers sound the same. It’s a sad truth. But since only most are the some means that of course there are those which stand above the crowd. And by some I mean this song. 高瀬 is one of my favorite arrangers and he didn’t let me down with this one.
Last in the first part of Nuke-tan is a wonderfully simple piano piece. For the most part it’s Corpse Voyage ~ Be of Good Cheer!, but then comes a little surprise… I’ll leave it up to you to find out what it is.
With Part I finished I cannot wait to get started on the next! I hope you enjoyed the music.
Well I’ve uploaded the rest for this week. For the next three I have a vocal arrange, a rock cover, and a orchestrated cover. So let’s get to the point.
0003 is a song I stumbled upon quite some time ago. At first I wasn’t really a fan of it, but after listening to it a few more times I grew to love it. The original song is Lullaby of Deserted Hell, an amazing stage theme. I’ve heard a few good arranges of it, but this is the first vocal arrange I’ve come across so far. I don’t know about anyone else, but I think the vocals are great in this song. They fit the mood to a ‘T’. Overall I think this a great song.
Moving on we have 0004. This is a cover of a song that I think is overlooked. I really wish more circles would do an arrange or cover for this song, 幽夢 ~ Inanimate Dream. Personally this is Yuka’s best theme. There’s just something about it that makes me feel that way. As the second PC-98 song to appear it is up there in my favorites, but it doesn’t pass Vanishing Dream ~ Lost Dream. I hope you like this one as much as I do.
The last song for this week is a beautiful piece done by 青汁&TAM. When I first heard this song I was completely blown away. I had always wanted a cover for Gensokyo Millennium ~ History of the Moon that was exactly like this song. There aren’t many words that can describe this song and the few I can come up with are beautiful, gorgeous, and perfection (all of which can describe Eirin herself as well). This is a cover for Gensokyo Millennium ~ History of the Moon which truly shows just how great Eirin is.
And with that I am done for this week. I hope you look forward to what will come next week!
Well between today and yesterday I have been deleting and adding what may look like the same videos. I was trying to get them to look better, sound better, etc. FINALLY I have gotten them exactly how I want them. I would like to thank ChaosAngel for this post which led me to the quality I was looking for. Now for pretty much the same post, but with the new HD videos.
On my youtube account I have started a playlist that will be full of my favorite Touhou arrangements/covers. It isn’t about one type of genre for those who were wondering. Any song that ‘tickles my fancy’ will appear. Now let me introduce the first two songs!
First is an arrangement of 夢消失 ~Lost Dream which is Kana Anaberal’s theme from Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream.
Originally I had planned to start off with some Suwa Foughten Field, but I changed my mind and went with this song. The reason was not because it’s a gorgeous song (which it is), but because I felt it would be better if I started with a PC-98 song. Kana’s theme is my favorite out of all the PC-98 songs so I had to go with this one.
The second is Missing Border which is an arrangement of ボーダーオブライフ, Yuyuko Saigyoji’s second theme from Perfect Cherry Blossom.
This song was put second to show that even though I love orchestrated songs I still love a good rock one as well. It’s one of my most favorite Border of Life arrangements and I hope it becomes one of yours as well.
All this aside I will probably hold off until next week to upload another song. I already have a few set up to be put up during this week since I really want them up right away.
And for those who were wondering I will make a .rar file with the songs and pictures every 10 songs. I’ll post the download link to them here in a new post and will also have a page set up with all the links. Do not bother asking about it on youtube because I will simply ignore it.
As the title says I have finally started scoring the Touhou character songs. So far I have finished going through 1-5, but now for the hard part… From Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil onward all the songs are generally longer and since I have to listen to them each at least a few times because I give a score it can drag out. Once I finish scoring them I’ll then rank them from best to worst. And once that is finally done I’ll post a batch each week until I get to my number one song. For now I won’t be posting anything before I finish those two tasks (scoring and ranking), but after that it’ll be back to normal, for the most part. ‘Till then-!
Today we’ll be looking at Alice Margatroid’s stage theme from Perfect Cherry Blossom. For the most part I think people overlook stage themes. I’m not saying everyone does, but you can’t deny that everyone doesn’t. As for me I do listen to some of the stage themes, but have been focusing more on the character themes to be honest. Well the reason I decided on this song in particular was that I found a very calming arrangement, which is very different from another arrangement I know of. You’ll see what I mean soon enough.
The original for those who don’t know it or can’t seem to remember it.
You can find the first part of the song here (It’s not Alice’s Stage theme, but her character theme). This is a rather heavy arrangement and the exact opposite of the next one.
A very calming arrangement y/y?
A nice vocal arrangement. I fully admit that the video made me cry the first time i saw it.
Now for some MarisaXAlice pictures. They’re actually my OTP.
Today’s topic is all about arrangements that contain at least two character songs in them. So far I have only come across two, but it makes me wonder just how many are out there. It makes me a little sad though, because with the right artist something verygood could come out of this idea (though I haven’t done much digging yet so I can’t say if there is one already). Well I just thought that this was something that definitely needed to be shared. And here are the ones I have found:
Personally I like the second one more, but I also like those themes more. Don’t get me wrong though, all four are high on my list.
Which reminds me, I’ll be going through all the Touhou character songs that are out so far and rating then ranking them to make my ‘Top Touhou Character Songs’ list. So keep an eye out for it in the future. Last time I did this I did a half-assed job and so everything was prettyiffy. Though Flowering Night from Scarlet Weather Rhapsody did make number one last time there’s no guarantee it’ll be the same this time.
I got some news today that =NeutraL= no longer exists. Sad news yes, but… It turns out they have simply become NEUTRAL2 which is part of the circle FRONTIER CREATE. If you don’t know any songs from =NeutraL= then here are some to for you (or simply refresh your memory of them).
…They all ended up as songs by nazz-can from the circle =NeutraL= though…
Was going to add one from another artist, but I’m saving that one for another day…
